January 4, 2009 – Be Ready

Happy New Year!

My husband and I received an unexpected but very treasured visit from old friends during the holidays. The house was not in order but we threw open the door anyway; they were good enough friends that it didn’t really matter. Expected or not, the visit blessed us. We smile now thinking about it.

This New Year we join the Gospel writer, Luke, as he tells the story of the visitation of Jesus. Embraced by some and rejected by others, Jesus constantly offered an invitation to get to know Him. This Sunday we will talk about the enviable happiness that we experience when we take advantage of the invitation.

Together over the next 15 weeks the congregation will explore what Jesus is up to. It’s always great to renew our friendship with Him. We hope to see you there – the door is always open.
