Jennifer McWilliams – Admin & Media Specialist

Jennifer is married to Scott McWilliams and has been the admin assistant here at FPCD for seven years now. She is not from Texas, but grew up in the Philippines as the daughter of missionaries. She graduated high school from Faith Academy in Manila, then went on to complete a BFA in Studio Arts with a minor in Biblical Studies at Biola University.

We asked Jennifer some questions so you could get to know her better. Here are her answers:

What you are passionate about?

I’m passionate about loving and learning how to love people better, as a means of working out my faith in God who is love, and who poured out his love on all mankind. I’m also passionate about making things – like pottery, painting, crochet, cooking, and baking – and learning about and living in the intersection between art and faith. At FPCD, I love putting creative thought and care into all I do, from creating bulletins and putting together presentations and flyers, to everyday tasks. I enjoy using my passions for art and the Word of God to serve however I can.

What is your favorite way to spend a day?

I love it when I have a day with no plans and I can relax, think, and dream. My favorite way to spend a day is through creating – painting, drawing, making pottery, writing poetry, singing, or baking. I also love good conversations with friends over tea or coffee.

Do you have a favorite movie or book?

I am a social movie watcher, so I care more about the relationship element of movie watching (watching movies as something I do to spend time with someone) than the actual content. My husband has been helping me learn how to really focus on and enjoy movies for their content, but it has been a process. Because of this tendency, I’m not sure what my favorite movie is, though I enjoy many. My favorite book is the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. It deserves a re-read soon.

Who is your favorite person to talk to (living or dead)?

I love talking to my husband, my family, and close friends. Though I’m an introvert, when I’m caught in a good conversation with the right person, I am energized and can talk for hours.

If you had a superhero power, what would you like to do?

My favorite superhero powers are teleportation and flying. These would both provide excellent transportation without sitting in traffic or having to pay high airline fees and would allow me to go anywhere in the world I needed to. The benefit of teleportation is that you can be anywhere instantly. Flying goes more with the idea of loving the feeling of freedom and wanting to feel the breeze on my arms and face.
